Equity change: rebalance financials

We’ve had positions in wealth managers in our equities allocations for a few months. Unfortunately, improved performance from our remaining managers’ funds has not been enough to stem outflows and wealth managers as a group continue to remain under pressure. They remain cheap, but we’ve decided to sell the last of our holdings and reinvest the proceeds in banks. Although Australian housing remains very expensive by international and historical standards, the valuation of the banking sector has moderated significantly over the last few months and rising rates should be a positive for the banks’ near term earnings, so we we’re reducing our underweight to the banking sector.
